Girls Varsity Basketball Springhill

ISO: 1250 Aperture: 5.6 Shutter Speed: 1/250 Lens: 28-135mm Flash: 2-580 off camera flashes

ISO: 1250 Aperture: 5.6 Shutter Speed: 1/250 Lens: 28-135mm Flash: 2-580 off camera flashes

Soooo this was the last basketball game that I shot. To be quite honest I was very disgruntled at the beginning of this whole basketball experience/fiasco. Right after getting out of drill team practice which ended around 4:45 in the afternoon I received a call from a fellow photographer. Curious as to why there was panic in the tone of the fellow photographer's voice, I naturally asked what was wrong. I was then told, that there was no gear in the closet and that they had to shoot the game in like 15 minutes. Normally I would just kinda be like, well that's your problem you didn't get your stuff together (and then secretly help them later and make them feel like poop), however, at this particular game it wasn't just them who would be put between a rock and a hard place. It would be every photographer shooting after them, which included myself. Soooooooo, I continued to call most every photographer and harassed them asking them where all the gear was. In the end, all the gear made it to the game, however, it was quite the inconvenience.
Moving on to the actual photography aspect of this blog, I'm kinda just like mehhhh with the pictures that I took. I guess that's kinda because I really liked the pictures that I took at the prior basketball game. I had to use a 30D at this basketball game, and I didn't like it because the older camera's don't have as fast of an auto focus. That is really disappointing. Especially cause I feel like I missed quite a few good photo opportunities... BLEHHHH

Band Christmas Concert

ISO: 800 Aperture: 2.8 Shutter Speed: 1/80 Lens: Bigma

ISO: 800 Aperture: 2.8 Shutter Speed: 1/100 Lens: Bigma

So these were my two favorite pictures that I took at the Texas High Band's annual Christmas concert. At first I wasn't too terribly excited about taking pictures of this assignment, but afterwards I was really glad that I did. On top of the photo opportunities, the music was great!! Getting to go and experience things that I never would have even thought of going to do is one of the things that I like the most about photography. Due to photography, I am so much more knowledgable of sports, plays, people in general, and things going on around the school!! Anyways, sorry I kinda got off task! The hardest thing about shooting this assignment was the fact that all the people in the band were sitting really close together and they were all facing towards the center. Therefore, it was extremely difficult to get faces in the pictures. I had to shoot through people and junk just so you could actually tell who the person is. I also wish that I had taken another lens with me because there were some times when I wanted to get some shots closer to the stage but couldn't because of my lens. However, I'm still glad that I brought the bigma so I just wish that I had brought 2!!! So the first picture that I took I really to enjoy, but I get the feeling that it is just really cliche!! I've seen this picture quite a bit, but I just can't help but like it. I like the second picture because the whole point of going to shoot this assignment was to get pictures of the students. While the first photo doesn't fulfill this, the second one does. I like it because it shows some emotion!!

Shop With a Cop

ISO: 1000 Aperture: 3.2 Shutter Speed: 1/250 Lens: 50mm

ISO: 160 Aperture: 11.0 Shutter Speed: 1/200 Lens: 70-200mm

ISO: 1000 Aperture: 2.5 Shutter Speed: 1/250 Lens: 50mm

ISO: 1000 Aperture: 2.5 Shutter Speed: 1/160 Lens: 50mm

ISO: 1000 Aperture: 2.5 Shutter Speed: 1/160 Lens: 50mm

So these are some of my favorite pictures from Shop With a Cop. I really enjoyed shooting this assignment, but it was really hard to separate the emotional from the photo journalist aspect of the assignment. Shooting this assignment was really hectic. There were people everywhere, and it was difficult to know what was okay, and what was not okay to take pictures of. However, I was really glad that I was given the opportunity to shoot this assignment because it really helps you to think about your shots and where you should be shooting. It makes you realize that you have to get on the level of the kids. It also helps you to make sure that you get the WHOLE story in the picture. Sometimes it was hard to get both the kid, the toy, and the policeman in the shot. If there was something that I could have done differently, I definitely would have taken one more lens. I probably would have wanted to bring a 17-50mm just because it would have been a little more versatile that the 50mm. However, I do like the creamy background that the 50mm provides.

editing "media"

So today during class has really been the first day that I have begun to edit all of the club picture day footage. I started the last class period, but didn't get too far. As of right now, the whole period I have been going through all of the clips, and cutting them down. I'm trying to put together a picture in my head of the order I want the clips to go in and how I want the video to go together, but the picture is VERY fuzzy right now. Considering that this is my first true experience using Final Cut Express, I would say that it hasn't been too terribly bad. However, there is still a whole lot to learn. I haven't even gotten to the part of transitions or anything like that. I feel like the hardest part for me will be putting it together in a cohesive way that makes sense. Woodsies will be there to help though, and I'm really hoping that this "media" project will turn out to be an extremely good practice for the BIG 72 and the video competition and ATPI Winter Conference this year. Woodsies and I intend on winning that this year. Or at least not get last place...

First Varsity B-ball game of the year!!!

ISO: 1000 Aperture: 4.0 Shutter Speed: 1/250 Lens: 24-105mm

ISO: 1000 Aperture: 4.0 Shutter Speed: 1/320 Lens: 24-105mm

ISO: 1000 Aperture: 4.0 Shutter Speed: 1/320 Lens: 24-105mm

ISO: 1000 Aperture: 4.0 Shutter Speed: 1/320 Lens: 24-105mm

So this was my first basketball game to shoot for the season. At first the pictures were kinda dark, so I added another 580 flash. Therefore, there were a total of three 580 flashes. I was also the only one shooting the game so I got the flash the majority of the time. I wish that I had another battery pack though because then one of the flashes would have recycled faster. The mistake that I made this time was that near the end of the game I wasn't thinking too clearly and I turned my shutter speed to 1/320. This made it to where there was a black bar at the bottom of the picture, and I didn't realize that this was the reason for the problem until I got into lightroom. So... I'll have to make sure not to do that next time. Overall, I thought everything turned out pretty well for the first game since it has been a while since I last shot this. I definitely look forward to shooting it again.

STUPID RED CAR

ISO: 250 Aperture: 4.0 Shutter Speed: 1/100 Lens: 70-200mm

So my friend Macy asked if I wanted to take some of her senior pictures and I was all like, "Sure!" Cause I needed some more experience when it comes to taking portraits. At a glance, this photo seems to be alright. However, when taking a closer look, one can see that there is a red car in the background. This would be ok, except for the fact that Macy is wearing red pants and it really does bring out the red in the car. MEHHHHHH!!!!! MAKIN ME MADDDDDDDD!!!!!!!!!!!!! This goes to show that when taking portraits you really need to pay attention to the background. Its just so irritating to not realize that it is there until you get into lightroom to process.

Selfie!!!!!!!!!

ISO: 160 Aperture: 8.0 Shutter Speed: 1/250 Lens: 17-50mm

Today during class, Carlie and I discovered that there was a bunch of headshots that needed to be taken. So, we set up in front of the grey background and went to work on the headshots. Once we finished all that we could do today, I just took the camera, held it in front of me, and took a selfie. When I looked at the camera, the thing I noticed the most was the leading lines. And I was all like WOO HOO!!!! LEADING LINES!! I thought it was a pretty humorous self portrait. So I guess when taking pictures I need to be more aware of what the surroundings are and how I can use them to make the picture better. Cause like I said earlier, I had no intention of getting leading lines. It was lucky!! haha

Bully Pic

ISO: 400 Aperture: 16 Shutter Speed: 1/80 Lens: 24-105mm Flash: 2 580

This was a picture that I took for the newspaper today durning class. The assignment was to take a photo that illustrated the terror/fear/experience of being bullied. I was really excited when I got this assignment because I feel like I have been in somewhat of a slump lately. I've been taking pictures, but they haven't really been story telling or even that enjoyable to take. However, when taking this picture I was able to tell a story and I learned quite a bit in the process. When I first started taking the picture I thought  wanted to take it in the staircase to nowhere. However, I couldn't get the lighting that I wanted (rim-light) because of the way the sun was shining into the area. So, after getting frustrated and calling Smith complaining that I couldn't get a rim light, he came down and we moved in front of the water fountains. This completely changed my idea of lighting. The light on Kenzie is a 580 that we used a snoot on in order to get a light that kinda looked like a spot light. Then for the light on Josh we used another 580 on a light stand off to the right of him. We then took a reflector and held it on the left of Josh to get more light on the inside of his arm. Taking this photo made me really realize that light comes from above (naturally) and that I needed to make a better point to be aware of that when I set up off camera flash. Overall this photo was fun to take, and I'm really glad I was given the opportunity to shoot it.

Creeper #2

ISO: 500 Aperture: 2.8 Shutter Speed: 1/8 Lens: 17-50mm Flash: Car headlights and 2 580 flashes

This was a picture that I came to help with. It is one of the series that we are going to be doing for the TOP competition (aka the creepers). When I first got there they were just trying to light the inside and the creeper, but you couldn't exactly tell that they were in a car because only the inside of the car was exposed. We didn't have another flash, so I suggested using another car's headlights as a main. INNOVATION AT ITS BEST!!!! That's how we got the light on the car, the people, and the creeper. The creeper, in this picture, wasn't exactly rim lighted enough, so it looks like just a couple of legs back there. We are not finished with this picture and the next time we will DEFINITELY be making some adjustments. For example, maybe tilting the light behind the creeper up as well as using a gel. The other change we might make would be to maybe soften the light on the inside of the car. Also, I don't exactly know why the shutter speed was at 1/8. That was obviously too slow and therefore the subjects of the photo were blurry...

YAY!!!! I CAN BLOG AGAIN!!!!

ISO: 1600 Aperture: 4.0 Shutter Speed: 1/100 Lens: 24-105mm

ISO: 1600 Aperture: 4.0 Shutter Speed: 1/100 Lens: 24-105mm

These were some pictures that I took for a Halloween party at the school. I was actually in yearbook class when this happened, and Rushing told me to go take these pictures at the last minute. I guess that is why I'm not too pleased with how they turned out. There wasn't a flash a available, and that is why I guess this was difficult for me to shoot. There is a giant window in the cafeteria and the sun was shining right through it. Due to that, it made it really hard to expose the subjects without a flash. One of the problems I had was that I had a really high ISO because the lighting is bad in the cafeteria, and then I had a low aperture cause I was trying to let in light to light the subjects, but then the giant light in the background I tried to get rid of, but if I made my shutter speed to high then the subjects weren't exposed. In other words, I needed a flash... BAD!!! These were the two pictures that I liked the most from this shoot. I like the top one because of the expression on the lady's face, and I like the second one cause I like the way they are helping each other. I feel like it tells more of a story.

ATPI strugglin'

So, the reason I have not had a blog in the past forever is because instead of being outside and taking pictures, I have been working diligently to get everything together for the ATPI photo contest. After much trial and tribulation, we finally got everything in the mail and sent off for judging. Getting things together for ATPI was honestly a pain. I felt like I was pulling teeth just to get people to put a couple pictures in a folder. The seniors did a great job of contributing their efforts in accomplishing this feat. I do not know what I would have done without them. This year is the most people that we have had in photography yet, and we had less photos entered this year than we did last year. We didn't even break a hundred images and I was kinda disappointed about that. I guess for the next contest that rolls around I'm going to have to be on the photogs even more about getting their stuff together. Hopefully it won't be as difficult next time as it was this time. With any luck, we will be able to come hope with some good awards from the ATPI fall contest.

Boring Fall Clothing

ISO: 1000 Aperture: 4.0 Shutter Speed: 1/40 Lens: 24-105mm

ISO: 1000 Aperture: 4.0 Shutter Speed: 1/60 Lens: 24-105mm

ISO: 1000 Aperture: 4.0 Shutter Speed: 1/60 Lens: 24-105mm

These were some pictures that I took today during class. The reason that the backgrounds aren't very good is because they just had to be contrasted enough with the subject so that we could cut them out in photoshop. These pictures are gonna be used in the yearbook for a fall clothes spread, however, I am confused as to how the shorts are part of fall clothing. Overall, I'm not going to lie, this was a boring assignment, but I haven't really had an assignment in a while so I was willing to take it!!

9th Grade Football

ISO: 100 Aperture: 2.8 Shutter Speed: 1/320 Lens: bigma

ISO: 100 Aperture: 2.8 Shutter Speed: 1/320 Lens: bigma

These were a couple of pictures that I took at one of the last 9th grade football games. Shooting football is something that I don't get to do a whole lot, so I usually end up having issues with shooting it. I'm pretty sure that this was one of the first games that I legitimately got to use bigma. The thing that I kinda found out about the bigma is that you really have to be paying attention to your focal point and what it is focused on. I also found that I also liked using the 70-200mm on the sidelines. However, I didn't like it when it got dark and I had to use the flash, because I don't really like using flash.

Hispanic Festival! HOLA

ISO: 500 Aperture: 4.0 Shutter Speed: 1/640 Lens: 70-200mm

This is a photo that I took for the Hispanic Festival yesterday. I know that this picture isn't a very good representation of hispanic heritage, but I liked the fact that the subject is framed within the photo. The exposure was also pretty spot on.  This assignment was pretty fun, especially because we got mexican food and we got to get out of class. This assignment was overall alright.

Wednesday, October 10, 2012

Today during class I didn't exactly take any photos, but I helped two people with two different pictures. The first photo was a painting with light picture. So i had to stay very still in order to not be out of focus. The ISO was 100 and the shutter speed was on bulb. The next picture was a dance picture. The ISO was 100 and the shutter speed was 320, which is weird for using strobes, but it wasn't fast enough to make a huge black bar. It was really fun.

Sugar Skull!!

ISO: 100 Aperture: 10.0 Shutter Speed: 1/250 Lens: 24-105mm

This was a picture that I just took for fun/because I need something for ATPI. Originally, I had seen a photo similar to this online, and I decided that it would be neat to try it. I really wanted a blue background, but we didn't have one. However, we did have a blue tutu, and we figured that it  would make for a neat background. So, I opened by aperture some to get the tutu a little more in focus. I also used a strop to light her face, and I put a grid on the strobe. That is how I got the harsher shadows. After taking the picture, I edited a little bit in light room, and then Smith put it through a portrait process. One of the hardest parts of this photo was doing the makeup. Haley was such a good person for sitting there with me for like two hours while I smeared stuff on her face. I really liked doing this photo because it wasn't an assignment, I had free reign on what I wanted, and it was kinda artsy. I would love to do more of stuff like this in the future.

Haley/Ke$ha

ISO: 100 Aperture: 6.3 Shutter Speed: 1/250 Lens: macro

ISO: 100 Aperture: 11.0 Shutter Speed: 1/250 Lens: macro

ISO: 100 Aperture: 16.0 Shutter Speed: 1/160 Lens: macro

These were some pictures that I took for fun one day in class. I didn't have much of anything to do at the time, and I didn't feel like sitting around. To be honest, this is the kind of thing that I like to do the most. I like to go and be artsy and experiment with flashes, strobes, gels, etc. The first picture with the green gel in my opinion creates a totally different feel than the other two pictures. It almost seems as if Rushing is an alien or something in the first one. The second picture actually surprised be a little bit. I wasn't expecting the background of the picture to turn out black because the background was white, but I guess the aperture was big enough and the flash power was such that it didn't reach the background. I really want to go and experiment in the studio some more. These pictures were ok, but I think they could have been better.

FAIL

Soooooo, today during class I tried to do something artsy so that I could have a picture worthy of ATPI. However, it was a giant fail. Although I did learn about shadows a little more. I was trying to project the shadows of the lace onto Woodsies and I could never get it the way I wanted. I think I'm going to try to do this one again, but as of right now, the pictures that I took are not even worthy to put on the blog. I think that if I try to do it again, I will need a larger piece of lace and maybe a bigger room, cause I wanted the light to be farther away from the lace and the subject because smaller light sources make darker shadows.

1st Six Weeks Project (creeper)

ISO: iphone Aperture: iphone Shutter Speed: iphone Lens: iphone

This is our plan for our creeper project. We tried this picture last year, but it ended up being a fail because the lights at the track went out and we just didn't have the time to really do a good job on the picture. I think it will be really cool to have the phantom backlit, and I'm hoping that we will be able to really capture the essence of the whole town that dreaded sundown. Hopefully we will be able to find some people who will like to be good subjects. I'm really excited about all of the off camera lighting and the creeping.

Funnel Cake

ISO: 100 Aperture: 4.0 Shutter Speed: 1/200 Lens: 24-105mm

This is a picture that I took for the yearbook when the fair came to town. I was kind of aprehensive to take the picture because pictures of people eating are always awkward. However, I figured it would be fun to go to the fair and take pictures cause of all the colors and lights, even though I didn't really have the time to do anything other than the assignment. I wish I would have had more time to work on the picture, but the subject had to leave. I feel like this picture could have been better with off camera flash.

Wednesday, September 19, 2012

ISO: 800 Aperture: 5.6 Shutter Speed: 1/250 Lens: 24-105mm

This is a picture that I took today during class. I was really excited about taking this picture to begin with just because of the story behind it. Mrs. Carpenter's son gave his organs to another when he passed away, so I figured it would be interesting to shoot. It really wasn't difficult to shoot, but I wish I would have been given the opportunity to do something more creative with it. Like something in the studio with off camera flash. However, I don't think she felt really comfortable with the subject so it was better not too. Other than that, there weren't any issues. All I did was crop it and bring up the exposure a little bit in lightroom.

Bacon Fry!!

ISO: 800 Aperture: 2.5 Shutter Speed: 1/320 Lens: 50mm

This was a photo that I took at our school's annual bacon fry. These were some of my friends, and I'm not exactly sure what they were excited about, but I just absolutely love the expression on Jasmine's face! She just looks genuinely excited and I feel like this is one of the expressions that you can't just do. You have to be in the moment. The only thing I had to do to this pic was to crop it, because there was this guy in the background that was kinda distracting. I'm usually against cropping a picture to a square, but it was the only way that I could put the focus directly on the girls.

OMG IT'S THE FIRST POST OF SENIOR YEAR

ISO: 1250 Aperture: 2.8 Shutter Speed: 1/400 Lens: 17-50mm

This was a picture that I took over the course of this summer, and it happened to be my favorite!! This assignment was a camp at TC where kids got to go and discover wether they truly wanted to be in STEM or not. I really only shot this assignment because I got paid, but it turned out to be a whole lot more than that. Because I hadn't had the opportunity to shoot much over the summer, doing this assignment really helped get me back into the swing of things in photography. I ended up shooting well over a thousand images because this camp lasted for an entire week. To be honest, I like this picture a lot just because of the fact that it has fire in it. Fire is always fun to shoot. I also like the way the fire lights up the faces of the three chemists. I wish I had the chance to shoot things like this more often.

Photography Portfolio/Final

ISO: 100 Aperture: 8.0 Shutter Speed: 30 sec Lens: 17-50mm
This was a picture that I took for my self portrait. I actually learned a lot from this particular photo because I had to be innovative and figure out a different way to get the effect that I wanted. I had originally wanted to set up a light stand with a brolly box for the lighting on my face, but it turned out that I had left the light stand at school. So, instead of making just one really quick image, I decided to slow down the shutter speed and do the different aspects of the photo within 30 seconds. What I did was paint the stockings in the background and the boots with light, and then I had one of my friends flash my face with a flash. Since I did all of this within the time limit, it actually all kind of compiled together to make one image. The only problem that I had was finding a way to eliminate all the spill light, because then I would become a ghost. I really like this image because I think that it really captures the emotion and the atmosphere of a child during the Christmas season.

ISO: 1250 Aperture: 4.0 Shutter Speed: 1/100 sec Lens: 17-50mm
This photo was taken on an assignment I was given for dinner theatre. It was really difficult to shoot because the lighting was absolutely awful and the color of the light kept changing. Another thing that I remember in particular about this assignment was the fact that I had a faulty lens, and I would have to wrestle with it every time I wanted to zoom in or out. However, I liked this picture because of the emotion on the faces of the people singing. You can just tell that they were really getting in to it and enjoying what they were doing. It was a lot of fun to shoot because of the atmosphere and all of the funny acts. I think the photo could have been better if I would have had a different lens.

ISO: 800 Aperture: 4.5 Shutter Speed: 1/125 sec Lens: 17-50mm
This was a photo that I took on an assignment to take pictures of the blood drive. This assignment was interesting to take because of the fact that it was a medical environment and I felt the need to ask the people if it was okay if I took their pictures. The thing that i really liked about this picture was that the focus was really on the subjects hand and the glove. I guess if I were to take this picture again, I would want to take it from a different angle because I feel like it has been shot before by a bunch of different people. I also think that this picture looks a little yellow.

ISO: 320 Aperture: 4.0 Shutter Speed: 1/500 sec Lens: 17-50mm
This was a picture I took when I was shooting Notes in The Park as a favor for one of my friends. I absolutely love this picture and it might just be because of the adorable baby. It was so cute because there were people up on the stage performing and playing instruments and the baby was holding his little toy guitar. The part of this assignment that was difficult was the lighting. It was extremely sunny outside and it was fortunate that this baby and mother was in the shade. I also love the emotion on the baby's face. He looks worn out and like he could take a nap. Another thing about this picture was that the baby could kind of tell that I was trying to take a picture of it and would turn away from the camera, so I had to wait for the right moment to get the picture I wanted.

ISO: 640 Aperture: 2.8 Shutter Speed: 1/800 sec Lens: 17-50mm
This was a picture that I took during class one day because I was bored and wanted something to do. It had just rained and so I was all like, PUDDLES!!!!! So I decided to take pictures of reflections in puddles. The part of this picture that was difficult was getting the reflection of the subject without getting my reflection in the picture. The only thing that I wish was different would be to have had it raining or something cause then there would be ripples in the puddle and it would have made more sense the be carrying around an umbrella.

ISO: 100 Aperture: 14.0 Shutter Speed: 1/250 sec Lens: 50mm
This is a picture that I took for my book cover replication picture. It is actually one of my favorites just because of the memories that went along with it. It was really funny because I had to get the yolk out of the egg and it turned out to be more of a feat than I had planned. It was also difficult to crack the egg without it totally breaking to pieces. To get the lighting, I took flashes and placed them on little itty bitty stands around the egg carton. I guess I really just like this picture because I like all of the shadows and the depth  in the crack of the egg. It also turned out to look pretty much like the book cover and that was a plus. I also liked this assignment because I like taking pictures of still life.

ISO: 100 Aperture: 6.3 Shutter Speed: 1/250 sec Lens: 18-200mm
This was a picture that I originally took for yearbook, but it ended up turning into more than that. It was really the first time that I had worked with a "model." It had helped that I was a dancer and I sort of knew what I wanted the photo to look like, but it's always somewhat different when you work with people. It wasn't that the situation was awkward, but it can sometimes be difficult to relate what you want to the subject. In order to get the lighting the way I wanted it, I positioned the brolly box up it the subjects right corner. I really enjoyed taking this picture because it was something that was more interesting, because when you live in a place like Texarkana, it can be difficult to find cool things to take pictures of. I would really like to take pictures of dancers more often because it is a lot of fun.

ISO: 100 Aperture: 8.0 Shutter Speed: a bunch of different ones Lens: 17-50mm
This is one of the first HDRs i have ever taken, and it turned out to be one of my favorites. I chose to take and HDR of this car because it was a really bright color and I figured that would look good in HDR form. I really like to take HDRs, but they are sometimes a pain to take because you have to have a tripod and it cannot move at all once you take the first picture. It was also neat to look at all the different exposures separately and then see how the look once they are all together. One of the problems that I had with this particular photo was that I didn't realize that the lens was really dirty, and because it was an HDR and I took a really underexposed image you could really see all the dirt. However, I was able to minimize it in lightroom by using the duplication tool.

ISO: 100 Aperture: 3.5 Shutter Speed: 1/1250 sec Lens: 17-50mm
This was a picture that I took on my very FIRST photo assignment. I don't know what I like about this picture so much, but I think it has something about how Kenzie is holding her arm and how she takes up the whole frame. I think that I was honestly just spraying and praying on this photo assignment and I was lucky to get this photo. That's pretty much all I have to say about this picture because to be honest I didn't set it up or anything.

ISO: 400 Aperture: 4.5 Shutter Speed: 1/80 sec Lens: 17-50mm
This was a picture that I took at Faith, Love, and Hope, which is a place where underprivileged children go after school and hand out or get help with school work. It was kind of awkward to take these pictures because some of the people there were making rude comments, and so I wouldn't have gone there by myself. Which is a lesson in itself because you need to be careful where you go to take assignments on your own. It's important to get the assignment done, but you don't need to compromise your safety. Anyways, I liked this picture because the kid didn't really know that I was taking the picture and it showed him in his natural environment. I also like the colors in this picture, particularly the blue wall behind the kid.

Personal Reflection: I would have to say that my favorite couple of photos would be the picture of Lindsey and the picture of the baby holding the guitar. I love both of them even though they are completely different pictures. The picture of Lindsey was completely posed and set up and I wanted a specific result, while the picture of the baby was not planned at all. I just kind of happened upon the moment and decided to try and capture it. I am so glad that I am in Commercial Photography because it is a really great outlet for my creativity and its really fun. I like to put work into something and see the result. Another reason why I absolutely love photography is because I learn something new every single day, whether it is actually something about photography or just life in general. I love this class because everyone in it works together in order to come out with a finished product.

NYC Trinity

Taken from my iphone

This is a picture that I took at Trinity in New York. The church was super pretty and I absolutely LOVED all of the stained glass. I liked this picture because of all the dimension and the architecture. The problem with this picture is that it is a little under exposed and it is somewhat grainy. Other than that going to this church and getting to take pictures of it was very fun!!

NYC

Taken from iphone

This was a picture that I took on the way down the Brooklyn Bridge. I couldn't find my card, so I figured the next best photo would come from my phone! haha! the only thing about this pic is that it is a little crooked and it was really foggy that day. I do like the reflections on the ground of the bridge though.

Baseball

ISO: 2000 Aperture: 2.8 Shutter Speed: 1/250 Lens: 120-300mm

This was the first time that I had ever shot baseball. It was kinda difficult because it was getting dark and I had to keep on bumping up my ISO which I don't like cause it makes the pictures all grainy. This was also the first time that I had ever used bigma. IT WAS SOOOO COOOL!!! I couldn't believe I had been missing out on it this whole year!!. The only thing about it was that it would go out of focus really fast. Other than that shooting baseball was really fun.

Heather and Dulce

ISO: 800 Aperture: 5.6 Shutter Speed: 1/250 Lens: 28-135mm

This was a picture of my friends Heather and Dulce. It was fun because I could tell that they were having fun. I guess they were happy cause they got to get out of class for a couple of minutes and they ended up joking around and having a good time. This was a good thing because I was able to get photos of their raw reactions.

Dinner Theater

ISO: 1250 Aperture: 4.0 Shutter Speed: 1/200 Lens: 17-50mm

 ISO: 1600 Aperture: 2.8 Shutter Speed: 1/125 Lens: 17-50mm
ISO: 1600 Aperture: 2.8 Shutter Speed: 1/500 Lens: 17-50mm

These were photos that I took for the STUCO dinner theater. It was really difficult because of the terrible lighting. They kept using these yellow lights and then they also used flashing lights, so I had to keep on changing my shutter speed. I also had to bump up my ISO which made my photos kinda grainy. Other than that, shooting this event was fun because I got to have a front row seat on a hilarious show!! :DD
