Six Weeks Project (Orbs/steel wool)

ISO: 200 Aperture: 7.1 Shutter Speed: 30 sec. Lens: 24-105mm

These were the pictures that I took for my six weeks project. The original project was to do orbs using glow sticks, but I decided to do the same thing except I used steel wool. The steel wool was a lot brighter, it let off sparks, and it allowed me to use a shorter shutter speed than normal. With the glow stick orbs the exposures had to be over a minute long, but with steel wool, they only had to be 30 seconds. Using steel wool was a whole lot more fun to use than glow sticks just because of the faster pace and it was easier to not make mistakes. The only downfall to it was when your wool burns out you're pretty much finished. I really want to experiment with steel wool some more because it was so fun. I really want to do one in an enclosed environment where the sparks will be contained. This has been one of my favorite projects for sure as of right now.

Striped Sweater Orb

ISO: 100 Aperture: 4.0 Shutter Speed: Bulb Lens: 24-105mm

This was one of the first orbs that I took. I failed to realize that I was wearing a sweater that had bright blue stripes on it. I really would have enjoyed this photo other than the fact that it is striped. So the next time I go to do this I will know to wear much darker clothes!

random HDR

ISO: 640 Aperture: 13 Shutter Speed: a bunch of different ones within 5 stops of each other Lens: 17-50mm

This was a picture that I took when it snowed. It was kinda hard to get it exposed because all of the light was reflecting off of the snow. I was kinda disappointed because of the fact that the snow didn't stay as long and that it was all slushy by the time I went to go take a picture. So, I decided to take a picture of snow on a car. I liked all of the colors so then I decided to do an HDR and this is how it turned out. I like the red and blue in the picture.

Dyslexia

ISO: 800 Aperture: 5.6 Shutter Speed: 1/200 Lens: 24-105mm Flash: 580

ISO: 800 Aperture: 5.6 Shutter Speed: 1/200 Lens: 24-105mm Flash: 580

ISO: 800 Aperture: 5.6 Shutter Speed: 1/200 Lens: 24-105mm Flash: 580

These were some pictures that I took for yearbook about people who have dyslexia and the struggles they go through. So what me and alex decided to do was set up a desk and tape a bunch of jumbled letters on the wall to kinda symbolize what goes on in their head. The best part of taking this picture was the people who were in it. They were so much fun!!

chillin..

ISO: 800 Aperture: 7.1 Shutter Speed: 1/200 Lens: 24-105mm Flash: 580

This was a photo that I took for yearbook when they gave us a ton of photo assignments at the last minute. Pretty much, all they wanted was to have this girl chillin' on a couch being care free about homework and school. So, naturally, I took her to the couch cause that is where we take all of the "chillin'" pictures. It was a very basic photo. It's exposed properly and thats pretty much all it has goin for it in my opinion.

#FreeByrd

ISO: 400 Aperture: 4.5 Shutter Speed: 1/1000 Lens: 28/135mm

ISO: 400 Aperture: 3.5 Shutter Speed: 1/1000 Lens: 28-135mm

ISO: 100 Aperture: 4.5 Shutter Speed: 1/320 Lens: 17-50mm

These are some of the pictures that I took for #FreeByrd. The first two I kinda took at the last minute cause I got a call  from a friend saying that the kids were still protesting and that I needed to go cover it. I thought there were going to be even more people protesting, but there was still a good group there. The last picture I took of a kid who got suspended and I saw him in the parking lot and was like hey, can you stand there for two seconds. The hardest part about shooting all this #FreeByrd stuff was to try and not to be biased even though I kinda wanted to support my class mates.

Canterbury

ISO: 800 Aperture: 4.0 Shutter Speed: 1/160 Lens: 17-50mm

This was a picture that I took for Canterbury. I don't really know why I like this picture, but I think it has something to do that the girl's shirt is colorful. I also tried to get this photo from a different angle, so I went on top of the stairs and lifted up the camera. Furthermore, I kinda lucked out on getting this shot.

Newspaper article

ISO: 100 Aperture: 4.0 Shutter Speed: 1/250 Lens: 17-50mm Flash: 580

This was a photo that I took for the newspaper. They really wanted it cropped so you couldn't tell who the person was, but I feel like everyone can tell anyways. To get the lighting, I pulled out the little white thingy on the flash and then bounced it off the ceiling. Other than that this photo wasn't too difficult to get.
